The November/December holidays in conjunction with Valentine’s Day always make for a flurry of engagements every year. According to Wedding Wire, 40% of engagements happen during this period, and wedding venues are happy to show off their style with a slew of bridal shows for you to attend.
I love to design for shows, there’s a certain freedom to designing just how you like it versus how your client wants it. It’s always a fine line, but one that is almost non-existent for a show situation. It’s also a chance to show off any new rentals we may have invested in over the past year, and this year was no exception. Our newest rental arch was front and center for a recent show at The Piedmont Club in Haymarket. It’s been painted out in Provence blue chalk paint from Annie Sloan, and this sophisticated verdigris like color is a perfect backdrop for anything eucalyptus - the current foliage craze.
Often, a venue will ask us to provide a little decor to show off the beauty of the space, or the linens available to you. Following the seasons and creating a spring, summer and fall centerpiece is typical, here’s how we handled that this year:
This design graced the sweetheart table and was placed in front of where the couple would sit.
Does this look like Autumn to you? I love the pop of screaming hot salmon with the godetia and the spray carnations, it makes the design come to life.
A simple lantern was the base for this combination of blossoms in colors that will glow when the light go down - we filled the lantern with fairy lights for the event.
